Alicia Coleman

Assistant Professor Of Urban And Community Forestry at University of Minnesota

Alicia Coleman serves as an Assistant Professor of Urban and Community Forestry in the Department of Forest Resources at the University of Minnesota since August 2023, focusing on the human dimensions of urban forestry through research on tree planting initiatives and stakeholder assessments. Prior to this, Alicia was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Connecticut, contributing to environmental social science research. Experience also includes a fellowship with the Extension Foundation, where Alicia assessed ecosystem services and land management practices, and multiple teaching positions at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, notably in Geographic Information Systems and green infrastructure planning. Previous roles include stewardship coordination at the Lincoln Land Conservation Trust and program instruction at the Appalachian Mountain Club. Alicia holds a Ph.D. in Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Master of Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science.
