Ronnell Higgins

Ronnell Higgins serves as the Commissioner of the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection since November 2023 and holds the position of Practitioner in Residence and Adjunct Faculty at the University of New Haven since September 2017. With a robust background in public safety, Ronnell previously worked as the Associate Vice President for Public Safety and Community Engagement at Yale University and has extensive experience as Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety at Yale University Police Department. Ronnell's career includes significant roles such as Executive Fellow at the National Policing Institute and Senior Associate at Margolis Healy & Associates. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement Administration from the University of New Haven. Ronnell is recognized for contributions as a keynote speaker on various public safety topics and has been involved in numerous consulting and training initiatives nationwide.
