Alex Steel

Alex Steel has extensive experience in higher education and legal sectors, currently serving as the Director of AI Strategy Education and Professor at UNSW since January 1996. Throughout this tenure, Alex has held multiple leadership roles including Acting Pro Vice Chancellor Education and Student Experience, Director of Teaching Strategy, and Interim Pro Vice Chancellor Education. In addition to academic positions, Alex is also a member of the Australian Law School Standards Committee and was a co-convenor for the Legal Education Associate Deans Network from 2013 to 2016. Alex has a legal background that includes roles as a consultant and policy officer for the NSW Attorney General's Department and as a solicitor at Blake Dawson Waldron. Academic contributions began with positions at various institutions including Epping Boys High School and the University of Technology Sydney. Educational qualifications were obtained from Macquarie University.
