Katie Kinney has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Katie currently holds the position of Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of North Alabama, where they have been a Professor since 2007. Katie has also served as a Dean and Interim Dean for the College of Education and Human Sciences. Prior to their work at the University of North Alabama, they were an Instructional Technology Specialist at the University of North Alabama Education Research and Inservice Center/Alabama Department of Education, where they provided professional development for teachers in the use of technology. Katie began their career as a Teacher at Madison City Schools in Alabama. Additionally, they have experience as a Department Chair, Director of Assessment, and has been involved in various assessment and accountability activities in their roles at the University of North Alabama.
Katie Kinney completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Instructional Leadership with an emphasis in Instructional Technology from The University of Alabama from 2000 to 2004. Prior to that, they received a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Elementary Education from The University of Alabama from 1998 to 2000. Katie obtained their Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Athens State University from 1995 to 1997. Lastly, Katie completed their high school education at Athens High School from 1989 to 1993.
