Laura Thornton

Laura Thornton currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Institutional Review Board and as a Research Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since October 2019. Prior to this role, Laura held the position of Associate Research Professor at the same institution from November 2007 to October 2019. Laura's career also includes serving as a Senior Program Coordinator at UPMC from September 2001 to November 2007 and as a Research Associate at Virginia Commonwealth University from May 1995 to August 2000. Laura earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Genetics from Penn State University, where studies were completed from 1986 to 1992, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology from William Paterson University of New Jersey, completed from 1983 to 1986.
