María R. Estorino

Interim Vice Provost & University Librarian at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

María R. Estorino serves as the Vice Provost for University Libraries and University Librarian at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since January 2017, with a prior role as Interim Vice Provost for University Libraries and University Librarian. Estorino has a robust background in libraries and special collections, holding the position of Associate University Librarian for Special Collections previously at the same institution. Prior experience includes serving as Vice President of Museum Collections at HistoryMiami and various roles at the University of Miami Libraries, Cuban Heritage Collection, from 2001 to 2015, including Esperanza Bravo de Varona Chair and Deputy Chair. Estorino began as a Librarian I at Miami-Dade Public Library in 2000. Education includes a Master of Science in Library Science with a focus on Archives Management from Simmons University, a Master of Arts in Public History from Northeastern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Loyola University New Orleans.
