Mark Gabriel Little

Mark Gabriel Little serves as the Executive Director of NCGrowth at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, focusing on fostering economic opportunities in distressed communities through technical assistance. Little has an extensive background in both academic and practical applications of policy, environmental science, and community development, including roles as the President of the Geological Society of America, Policy Scholar at E Pluribus Unum, and Managing Director of the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise. A musician, composer, and performer under the name MGL, Mark draws from diverse musical traditions and collaborates with other artists. Little also has experience in research and legislation, having served as an AAAS Congressional Science Fellow and co-founding initiatives aimed at job creation and sustainable economic growth. Educational qualifications include a BA in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Harvard University and a PhD in Geology from Rice University.
