Karen Smith

Karen Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Karen started their career at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in 1998 as a Senior Associate. From there, they joined The Siegfried Group in 2000 as an Associate. In 2003, they moved to Main Line Health, where they held various roles including Senior Internal Auditor, Assistant Director of Patient Accounting, Assistant Compliance Officer, and eventually Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer. Most recently, in 2023, Karen joined Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System as the VP of Billing Compliance.

Karen Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics with concentrations in Accounting and Healthcare Management from The Wharton School in 1998. Karen then pursued a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the Fox School of Business at Temple University, completing their degree in 2004. Karen Smith also holds additional certifications including Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) and Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) awarded in 2016, and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) obtained in 2000.
