Denita L. Henderson is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in economic development, innovation, and community engagement. Currently serving as Managing Director of Pennovation Works at the University of Pennsylvania since July 2022, Denita oversees strategic initiatives related to a 23-acre development site, including leasing strategies, stakeholder engagement, and operational activities for the Pennovation Center. Prior to this role, Denita was the Associate State Director for Economic/Business Development & Innovation at the University of Delaware, where notable achievements included being named the 2020 Small Business Advocate of the Year and securing a $2.5M SBA Navigator Grant. Earlier experience includes roles at the City of Wilmington Office of Economic Development and CBM Community Development Corporation, where Denita led significant workforce development initiatives and community investment projects. Educated at The Wharton School and Villanova University, Denita holds a dual degree in Economics and Strategic Management, as well as an Executive MBA in Strategic Leadership & Management.
