Dr. Elizabeth Smallwood is a skilled marketing and communications professional with a robust background in creative writing. Currently serving as Marketing Function Manager and previously as Communications Specialist, Coordinator, and Assistant at the University of Portsmouth Students' Union since July 2019, Dr. Smallwood has demonstrated leadership in academic settings. Experience includes roles as a Learning and Development Administrator at Oliver Bonas and several positions in audiobook production at Red Apple Creative, where a BA(Hons) in English and Creative Writing was obtained. Additional contributions as a Travel Writer and Copyeditor for The Galleon News Portsmouth and involvement as Co-President of the Creative Writing Society at the University of Portsmouth highlight a commitment to community engagement. Dr. Smallwood is pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Portsmouth, building on a foundation of a Master's degree and undergraduate studies in the same field.

Portsmouth Students’ Union has a vision of creating a positive impact with every Portsmouth student during their time at University. As a charity led by our values and guided by our students, we do this by providing wide-ranging services and learner support to the 20,000 students of the University of Portsmouth. Create change for a better University. Anyone can get involved in the Student Council and run in our Elections for one of many leadership roles. As well as gaining valuable experience through our representation opportunities, students can also volunteer for one of our many volunteering groups such as VIP or SU Heroes. It's a great way to meet new people whilst giving back to the community. Our extensive Activities programme has over 100 sports clubs and societies. We also run one-off trips and events through our Give it a Go programme.
