Kate Fitzgerald

Kate Fitzgerald has extensive experience in student support services and residence life, currently serving as the Assistant Vice President for Student Support Services and Dean of Students at the University of South Dakota since June 2019, where leadership involves creating inclusive living communities. Prior roles include Director of Housing and Residence Life at Youngstown State University, where a 10-year facilities plan was developed, and Director of Residence Education at the University of Iowa, contributing to the establishment of living learning communities and participating in leadership for new residence hall designs. Earlier positions include directorships in residence life at Buena Vista University and Mount Mercy University, as well as a Hall Director role at the State University of New York at Oswego. Kate Fitzgerald holds a Master's degree in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies from Western Illinois University and a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Saint Francis University, along with coursework towards a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Iowa.
