David Read

David Read has extensive experience in the field of chemical education, currently serving as a Professorial Fellow at the University of Southampton since May 2007. In addition to this role, David holds several leadership positions including Collaborative Lead of the Centre for Higher Education Practice, Head of Education Group in Chemistry, and Director of Undergraduate Admissions for Chemistry. David also directs outreach initiatives within the Chemistry department and contributes as a Year tutor and Programme Leader for the Science Foundation Year. Prior to this, David taught as a Science Teacher specializing in Chemistry at Theale Green Community School from January 2004 to May 2007, where initial teacher training was completed through the Graduate Teacher Programme. David earned a B.Sc in Chemistry (1996) and a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry (1999) from the University of Bristol.
