David Woolley

David Woolley is a seasoned professional with a robust background in technology transfer, intellectual property, and business management. Currently serving as the Head of Technology Transfer & IP at the University of Southampton since November 2021, David previously held the position of Business Manager at the Centre for Enterprise and Innovation from January 2006 to October 2021, where responsibilities included scouting technologies and commercializing inventions. David's experience also encompasses roles as Non-Executive Director at Audioscenic and AccelerComm Ltd, along with advisory responsibilities at BBC Vecta and BBC Resources Ltd. An engineering background was established in the Royal Navy, where David served as an Engineering Officer on submarines, and later as Dockyard Facility Manager for the Ministry of Defence. David holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Cranfield School of Management, a PostGraduate Diploma in Nuclear Reactor Technology from the University of Surrey, and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London.
