Paul Whittaker

Professor Paul Whittaker is Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Southampton. The Dean has executive management responsibility for the Faculty and leads on the delivery of the strategic priorities. He is a member of the University Executive Board that is responsible for the strategic direction, development, and performance of the University of Southampton. He has produced research outputs at a national and international level and published texts that explore multidisciplinary frameworks in design and public policy. His current research utilises a case study approach to exemplify how collaboration between new enterprises and skilled local communities in the European Union are contributing to improved performance in the textile design industry, innovation, and sustainable social cohesion. He has achieved significant research funding and been principal investigator in high profile funded research projects. He is currently working on a book titled, Toward a Social Fabric: Europe’s New Textile Industries, for Bloomsbury Academic, London.
