Ben Shaw

Ben Shaw is a Principal Consultant at CECAN Ltd, specializing in innovative policy analysis and evaluation for complex systems since December 2022. Concurrently, Ben serves as a Visiting Research Fellow and Deputy Director at the University of Surrey, where responsibilities include advancing policy evaluation practices through the ESRC-funded Centre for the Evaluation of Complexity Across the Nexus (CECAN). As a freelance researcher, Ben has collaborated with various organizations, delivering high-quality environmental policy research. Previous roles include Environment and Sustainable Development Manager at the Office of Rail and Road, and Director and Principal Research Fellow at the Policy Studies Institute, where leadership and project management were key responsibilities. Ben's academic background includes a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of Bristol and two M.Sc. degrees in European Environmental Policy and Applied and Environmental Geophysics from Lancaster University and the University of Birmingham, respectively.
