Sarah de Carvalho Mbe

Sarah de Carvalho MBE serves as the Chief Executive Officer of It's a Penalty since May 2015, focusing on using sports to combat human trafficking and exploitation globally. With a commitment to social change, initiatives include campaigns during major sporting events and child protection programs in youth-led sports. Sarah is also the Honourary President and Founder of Happy Child International, which provides child and family care services in Brazil and Angola, and advocates in the UK. Holding an MBA from the University of Surrey and a degree in Counselling from The London School of Theology, Sarah has an extensive career spanning various roles in media and public relations. Notably, Sarah was shortlisted for the Beyond Sport Global Impact of the Year Award in 2018 and has served on advisory boards, including the University of Surrey MBA program.
