Tao Chen

Tao Chen is an accomplished academic and leader in the field of chemical engineering, currently serving as Associate Vice-President for International Affairs at the University of Surrey since January 2011. In this role, Tao Chen oversees the University's global engagement strategy, focusing on transnational education, brand building, student recruitment, and partnership development. Additionally, Tao Chen is a Professor of Digital Chemical Engineering, specializing in computational modeling and data science applications in chemical engineering, with research interests in mathematical modeling and optimization. Previous positions include Associate Dean (International) at the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences, and Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University. Tao Chen is also an active member of the Association of British Chinese Professors, currently serving as Vice President. Educational credentials include a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Newcastle University and master's and bachelor's degrees from Tsinghua University.
