Russell Poole

Russell Poole, a veteran technology leader, joined UT Southwestern Medical Center as Chief Information Officer in October 2020. Mr. Poole provides strategic leadership over the University’s information technology and leads the digital transformation that supports the continued growth and success of all of UT Southwestern’s core missions.Mr. Poole came to UT Southwestern from University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where he led the University’s overarching technology environment since 2013. That included its network, enterprise applications, data centers, web services, academic and learning management systems, classroom and educational support, information security, compliance, and other critical areas across the campus.In his role as Associate Vice Chancellor for the Office of Information Technology and CIO at Anschutz Medical Campus, he was responsible for the campus’s academic IT infrastructure and coordination of technology services across five affiliate hospitals, which provide clinical care in Denver and throughout Colorado.Before working at the University of Colorado, he was Director of the Technology Services Organization and Facilities within the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology.Mr. Poole holds both a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida.
