Ylva Rodny-Gumede

Ylva Rodny-Gumede is an experienced academic and executive with a strong background in global engagement and advancement within higher education. Currently serving as the Executive Director of Advancement at the University of the Free State since November 2025, Ylva previously held leadership roles at the University of Johannesburg, including Head of the Division for Global Engagement and Professor from January 2009 to November 2025. Ylva earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Communication from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, between 2004 and 2008.
