Joanne MacDonald

Joanne Macdonald is an accomplished academic and industry leader in molecular engineering, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast since January 2012, where innovative research focuses on developing technologies to address global challenges through biomolecular science. As Chief Technology Officer at BioCifer Pty Ltd since October 2016, Joanne Macdonald is at the forefront of creating advanced disease detection technology that simplifies testing processes. Previously, Joanne Macdonald held multiple positions at Columbia University, including Assistant Professor and Associate Research Scientist, from April 2002 to December 2020. Academically, Joanne Macdonald earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology and an Honours degree in Microbiology from The University of Queensland, along with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Microbiology.
