Gayle McPherson

Gayle McPherson is a seasoned academic and leader in cultural policy, currently serving as a Non Executive Director at Commonwealth Games Scotland and a member of the British Council Scottish Advisory Committee. As a member of the Board of Trustees at the Edinburgh International Culture Summit, McPherson contributes to the advancement of cultural discourse. In academia, McPherson holds the position of Professor and Chair of Events and Cultural Policy at the University of the West of Scotland, where Gayle directs the Centre for Culture, Sport and Events. McPherson has a strong background in cultural diplomacy, having taught at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy. Previous roles include Head of Cultural Business at Glasgow Caledonian University, overseeing a successful department with a focus on employability and research. McPherson's educational credentials include a PhD in cultural sociology from Glasgow Caledonian University and a BA (Hons) in Recreation from Moray House College of Education, The University of Edinburgh.
