Kathleen DesJardins

Kathleen DesJardins has an extensive work experience spanning several industries. Kathleen began their career in 1983 as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - School of Medicine, where they focused on myelin formation in culture and gained skills in various scientific techniques. Kathleen then worked as a Systems Projects Programmer at CompuChem Laboratories from 1985 to 1988. Kathleen then transitioned into the software industry, working as a Technical Writer/Software Developer at Vermont Creative Software from 1992 to 1995 and as a Software Developer/Contractor at Straight Forward Software from 1999 to 2002. Kathleen also served as an Instructor for Computer Systems at Champlain College from 1996 to 1999. In 2001, Kathleen joined the University of Vermont as a Computer Specialist and later took on roles as an Information Technology Professional - Senior and an Information Technology Manager. From 2012 onwards, they have been part of the University of Vermont Foundation, initially as an Assistant Vice President and CIO, then as an Associate Vice President for Advancement Services and CIO, and currently as the Vice President and CIO.

Kathleen DesJardins obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, which they attended from 1978 to 1982. Prior to that, from 1974 to 1978, they completed their undergraduate studies at Cornell University, earning an A.B. degree in Biological Sciences. Additionally, they pursued further education by participating in a post-graduate certification program in Computer Science at North Carolina State University from 1985 to 1987.
