Melissa Murray is the Director of the UVM Women & Gender Equity Center at the University of Vermont since March 2017, overseeing operations and programs that promote gender equity and serve as a liaison with various organizations. Additionally, Melissa has been an instructor in the University of Vermont Department of Social Work since March 2010, teaching courses related to social work and supervising interns. Previously, Melissa served as Executive Director at Outright Vermont from 2010 to 2017, where leadership focused on supporting queer and trans youth, co-founding initiatives such as Camp Outright and Gender Creative Kids. Melissa's extensive experience includes roles at the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains, YWCA Columbus, The Ohio State University's Office of GLBT Student Services, and Women's Outreach for Women, complemented by a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Women and Gender Studies from The Ohio State University.
