James Nokes

James Nokes has extensive experience in the field of infectious disease epidemiology. James started their career as a Royal Society University Research Fellow at Imperial College London from 1990 to 1993. James then moved to the University of Oxford, where they held the same position as a Royal Society University Research Fellow from 1993 to 1995. In 1995, they joined the University of Warwick as a Lecturer, progressing to Senior Lecturer and Reader until 2011. During this time, they also became a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator and Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology. From 2001 onwards, they began working at KEMRI - Wellcome Trust, where they served as a Senior Scientist and Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, as well as the Director of the NIHR Global Health Research Group GeMVi. James also held the position of Chairman of the Epidemiology and Demography Department from 2012 to 2015. In 2018, they returned to the University of Warwick as the Director of the NIHR Global Health Research Group GeMVi.

James Nokes completed their Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1982 at Imperial College London. James then went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Parasite Epidemiology from the same institution, graduating in 1987.
