Ana Mari Cauce

Ana Mari Cauce was named president by the University of Washington Board of Regents on October 13, 2015. Cauce joined the University of Washington faculty in 1986 and is a full professor of psychology and American ethnic studies, with secondary appointments in gender, women and sexuality studies in the College of Education.

She has held numerous administrative positions at the UW, including director of the UW Honors Program, chair of American Ethnic Studies, chair of Psychology, executive vice provost, and dean of arts and sciences and most recently provost and executive vice president. She was a recipient of the University of Washington’s Distinguished Teaching Award.

Cauce earned degrees in English and psychology from the University of Miami, and a PhD in psychology, with a concentration in child clinical and community psychology, from Yale University.
