Avik Som

Avik Som, MD, PhD, serves as an Assistant Professor in Radiology and Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, specializing in interventional radiology with a focus on developing innovative therapies that integrate material science techniques into clinical practice. As Co-Founder of Absco Therapeutics, Avik combines a strong academic background with practical applications, previously holding the position of Visiting Post-Doctoral Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under Dr. Robert Langer. Avik completed a residency in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and also has experience as Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of CareSignal. The educational journey includes a dual MD and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, complemented by a Bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University.
