Dylan Plung

Dylan Plung is a dedicated academic currently pursuing a PhD in Modern Japanese History and International Relations at the University of Washington, having received the Top Scholar Award in 2025 and a History Fellowship for 2025-2026. Prior professional experience includes roles as Senior Project Manager and Project Manager at The National Bureau of Asian Research, and a Blakemore-Freeman Fellow at the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies, where advanced Japanese language acquisition was a focus. Dylan also held positions as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Communications Assistant at the University of Washington, and has experience in tutoring, instructional support, and community education in Japanese language and East Asian history. Educational background includes a Master's of International Studies from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree in Asian Studies from Whitman College, complemented by a study abroad at Kansai Gaidai University.
