Having trained at UWL, graduating in 2015, Antony started his career in surgical nursing, working across the peri-operative setting. His first foray into education was as the Practice Development Nurse for Surgery across Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospitals, followed by a move to north Wales and a step into academia at Bangor University.
Whilst at Bangor, Antony was the University representative at the North Wales Simulation Forum. Here, he was instrumental in creating a virtual placement program and designing MOOC eLearning packages for the north Wales NHS at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to joining UWL as a lecturer, Antony worked as the Learning Environment Lead at Frimley Health with responsibility for all student nurses in the clinical setting.
Antony commenced his role as Lead for Simulation in February 2023. Since the start of his tenure the department has gone from strength-to-strength, focusing on efficiencies and quality assurance in line with national standards for simulation. The impact of this has been clear through the team winning the prestigious award for innovation at the UWL Teaching Excellence Awards 2023. He has been a member of the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare since 2019.
Antony has an acute interest in human factors, simulation based learning, and the use of gamification in healthcare. He is currently completing his Doctorate in Health Service Delivery with a particular focus on the impact pre-briefing has on psychological safety in sim.
