Imre (Imi) Kovesdi has a long and distinguished career in the scientific field. Imre (Imi) began their career in 1985 as a Post Doctoral Fellow at Rockefeller University. In 1987, they joined AMERICAN CYANAMID as a Group Leader, where they directed neurological and anti-viral research programs, supervised technicians, post-doctoral fellows and students, and coordinated the development of the identification of biological and small chemical agents used as drugs for treating neurological and viral diseases. In 1993, they joined GenVec, Inc. as Vice President & Chief Scientific Officer, where they were also the Chairman of the Technology Advisory Committee, charged with the identification and licensing of key enabling technologies. Imre (Imi) also worked as a Scientific Collaborator at Cornell Medical College in 1993. In 2005, they became the Chief Executive Officer of VectorLogics, Inc. and in 2012, they became the Chief Scientific Officer of DNAtrix, Inc. In 2003, they started their own company, KILA Consultants, LLC, where they serve as President. Currently, they are the Chief Scientific Officer of Unleash Immuno Oncolytics, a position they have held since 2022.
Imre (Imi) Kovesdi's education history consists of three degrees. Imre (Imi) began their academic career in 1970, when they earned a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from The University of British Columbia. Imre (Imi) then went on to earn a Ph.D. in Biology from Simon Fraser University in 1984. Finally, they completed a Postdoctoral Associate in Virology from The Rockefeller University in 1987.
