Carol Newby currently serves as the Thematic Team Lead at UnLtd, beginning in May 2024. With a longstanding tenure at Teach First since October 2014, Carol holds multiple key positions including Founder and Co-chair of the Socio-economic Class Network, where significant advancements in class data metrics were achieved, alongside the initiation of a socio-economic background pay gap report. As Network Connector, strategic leadership facilitated a major gathering of Teach First ambassadors, enhancing community connections. Carol also made impactful contributions as Innovation Manager, Partnership and Innovation Officer, and Senior Coordinator, demonstrating a strong commitment to social mobility and innovation in education. Prior to Teach First, Carol was the UK Foundation Manager for Education for the Children Foundation, overseeing several projects aimed at improving educational opportunities in Guatemala. Carol earned a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in History from the University of Chester from 2005 to 2008.

We are the leading provider of support to social entrepreneurs in the UK and offers the largest such network in the world. We resource nearly 1,000 individuals each year through our core Awards programme. We operate a unique model by investing directly in individuals and offering a complete package of resources; from Awards of funding between £500 and £15,000 to ongoing advice, networking and practical support. We also resource community entrepreneurs to start-up; support those with more established ventures to scale up; and are committed to developing an eco-system of support to make it easier for those who need help to find it.
