Joshua Schwochert

Joshua Schwochert is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Unnatural Products, a drug discovery company that creates cyclic peptides to address urgent clinical needs. Prior to Unnatural Products, Joshua was a PhD student at the University of California, Santa Cruz where they conducted research in the laboratory of Dr. Scott Lokey. Their work centered around the pharmacokinetic properties of beyond rule of 5 cyclic peptides. During their time at UC Santa Cruz, Joshua collaborated directly with Pfizer and Eli Lilly, yielding first author publications from both collaborations.

Joshua’s research experience includes solid phase synthesis, HPLC-MS, 2D NMR, molecular modeling, in vitro PK, and one-bead one-compound libraries. Joshua also spent a summer as a research student at Washington State University. Joshua’s experience and expertise make him well-suited to lead Unnatural Products’ scientific efforts.

Joshua Schwochert is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Joshua is specializing in peptide chemistry for drug discovery. Joshua was a undergraduate at Concordia University Irvine where they majored in Chemistry and Biology with an emphasis in premedical studies.
