Luke Lovett has worked in the software engineering industry since 2010. In 2011, they began working as a Systems Administrator for Turing's Craft and a Web Developer for Oprestissimo. In 2012, they worked as a Project Manager for Obietaxi, Web Administrator for The Oberlin Review, and Project Manager and Lead Developer for Apatapa. From 2013 to 2020, they worked as a Software Engineer for MongoDB. In 2020, they became a Principal Software Engineer at CampusLogic, where they decreased maintenance cost for evaluating scholarship earnings and eligibility and designed and implemented a microservices-oriented architecture to replace the Ruby on Rails monolith. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer II for unspun.

Luke Lovett attended St. Charles Preparatory School from 2004 to 2008, where they obtained their high school diploma with a focus in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics. Luke then continued their education at Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music from 2008 to 2013, where they earned a BA and BM in Computer Science and Technology in Music and Related Arts, respectively.
