Matthew Padgett

Matthew Padgett has seven years of work experience in mechatronics engineering and teaching. In 2022, they began working as a Mechatronics Engineer for Unspun and Rain Industries, where they developed mechatronic systems, overhauled avionics, and led the design, manufacture, integration, and testing of a new avionics harness. From 2019 to 2022, they worked as a Mechatronics Engineer for HDT Global, where they designed electrical systems, developed test benches, and maintained electrical design documents. From 2017 to 2019, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Biorobotics Laboratory, where they designed a mechatronic apparatus, built a custom test bed, and designed and executed experiments. Matthew also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Utah in 2017, where they demonstrated computer-based problem-solving techniques and explained challenging mechanical and coding concepts to students. In 2017, they were a Team Leader for the GREAT Computer Graphics and Robotics Summer Camp, where they taught basic coding and hardware-building principles and created projects to teach the use of sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers. Finally, from 2015 to 2017, they were a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Logan Farm Equipment, where they used SOLIDWORKS to create fabrication drawings, develop assembly models, and estimate job costs.

Matthew Padgett obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University - Idaho in 2016, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah in 2019.
