Mha Jo Ann Nelson Rhia

Jo Ann Nelson has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Jo Ann started their career at Mackinac Straits Health Systems in 1997, where they worked as an ER TECH until October 2011. From September 2011 to October 2013, they served as a Health Unit Clerk (HUC) at the same organization. In 2015, they joined Marquette General Hospital as a Coder II and worked there until August 2018. Currently, Jo Ann Nelson is working as the Director of Health Information and Facility Privacy Officer at UP Health System - Bell since August 2018.

Jo Ann Nelson has a diverse education history in the field of healthcare administration and management. In 1995, they attended North Central Michigan College and received a degree in General Arts with a focus on General Studies. Afterward, they pursued additional education at Rasmussen College, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Health Information Administration from 2013 to 2014. Later, from 2013 to 2017, they studied at Rasmussen University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management.

To further enhance their qualifications, Jo Ann Nelson obtained certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from AHIMA in December 2017. Building upon their existing knowledge and skills, they completed their education journey at Rasmussen University from 2019 to 2020 and achieved a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, specializing in Health/Health Care Administration/Management.
