Ralph Phillip

Ralph retired from Valero Energy in late 2017 after 39 years in refinery operations. He worked in multiple facilities of various sizes, configurations and complexity while employed with Phillips Petroleum, Amoco Oil and most recently 19 years with Valero Energy.

Prior to retirement, Ralph served as the Vice President and General Manager of Valero’s St Charles Refinery for over 10 years. During this assignment, his oversaw a large refinery modernization program that increased the facility’s capacity, complexity and reliability. Previous Valero assignments included being Vice President and General Manager at the Houston and Texas City Refineries.

With employee safety a core value, all of these refineries were recertified as OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star sites during Ralph’s tenure.

Ralph graduated from Iowa State University in 1978 with a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering.
