Amy Claire Heitzman, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in various leadership roles in the field of education and professional development. Amy Claire started their career at the Dallas Museum of Art in 1997 as part of the Education: Docent Programs. Amy Claire then moved to the Meadows Museum at SMU in 2000 as the Education Director. In 2002, they became the Executive Director at SMU Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE). Amy then joined UPCEA (University Professional and Continuing Education Association) in 2011, where they held the role of Chief Learning Officer until 2015. Amy Claire was then promoted to Senior Vice President for Strategy & Chief Learning Officer for a year before becoming the Deputy CEO & Chief Learning Officer in 2016.

Amy Claire Heitzman, Ph.D. has an extensive education history. Amy Claire completed their Ph.D. in Higher Education at The University of Texas at Austin from 2009 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Education from Southern Methodist University, where they also earned a Graduate Certificate in Marketing from the Cox School of Business. Amy Claire furthered their education in the field of Education by completing another M.Ed. degree with a focus on Educational Technology at Southern Methodist University in 2005.

Before pursuing their graduate studies, Amy obtained a Master's Degree in Art History from the University of Chicago from 1995 to 1997. Amy Claire initially started their undergraduate education at the University of Michigan from 1989 to 1993, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art History with a minor in English.

Additionally, Amy has obtained various certifications throughout their career. Some of these certifications include Workplace Mentor Training from Mentor Collective in February 2023, Speaker XXIV Encuentro Internacional 2019 from RECLA in October 2019, 2019 Learning Elite Judge from CLO in February 2019, and Summit on the Credentialing Economy from Saylor Academy in June 2018.
