Johanna Karhu

Johanna Karhu is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in research and development, currently serving as General Manager of R&D Abrasive Coatings at Mirka since November 2023. Previously, Johanna held various roles at UPM Raflatac, including Manager of R&D and Technology, where expertise was applied in developing water-based and hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesives for label applications. Additional experience includes positions at UPM-Kymmene Oyj as Senior Specialist in SAP EHS master data management, and roles at UPM and Airbus focusing on materials engineering and surface treatment material approval for aircraft. Johanna began a career in the field as a Chemicals Specialist at Patria. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Applied Chemistry from the University of Jyväskylä.
