Marju Luoma

Marju Luoma has extensive work experience in various roles within the HR field. Marju started their career at Turku University as a part-time lecturer in 1991. Marju then worked as an English and French teacher for the Commune of Pirkkala from 1992 to 1995 and for the City of Hämeenlinna from 1995 to 1997. In 1997, Luoma became a lecturer at Ahlman Institute of Agriculture and Home Economics. Marju also worked as a part-time lecturer at TAMK/Tampere Polytechnic from 1998 to 1999. Luoma transitioned into the corporate world in 2000, joining Nokia Siemens Networks as a Group Manager and Global Competence Development Consultant. Marju continued their career at Nokia, where they served as a Business HR Manager from 2003 to 2006 and as a Development Manager in Knowledge Management from 2003 to 2004. From 2007 to 2009, Luoma was the Director of Human Resources at Nokia. Marju then returned to Nokia in 2010 as the Director of Human Resources and held this position until 2011. Luoma joined UPM - The Biofore Company in 2011 as the Director of Raflatac EMEA HR & Engineered Materials BG HRD. Marju later became the VP of UPM Raflatac HR from 2013 to 2016, and then the VP of HR Energy BA, Technology and Global Functions from 2016 to 2018. Currently, Luoma serves as the VP of HR, Fibres at UPM - The Biofore Company.

Marju Luoma's education history includes a matriculation exam or A-levels from Kempele Upper Secondary School in 1982-1985. Marju then obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in French, English, and Educational Studies/Didactics from the University of Turku in 1986-1992. In 1988, they received a qualification as a flight attendant from Finnair Cabin Services. Later, from 2002 to 2009, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching at the University of Tampere. Currently, they are attending the University of Eastern Finland for a field of study in Psychology from 2021 to 2023.
