Shannen Young is an accomplished Communications Officer currently serving at Uppsala Monitoring Centre since September 2022, following a similar role at SIPRI from September 2018 to August 2022. Prior experience includes positions as a Digital Communications Assistant and Communications and Outreach Intern at SIPRI, as well as an Office Administrator at Innovative Fitness from September 2017 to August 2018. Shannen also contributed as the Head of Layout for Uttryck Magazine at Utrikespolitiska föreningen Uppsala from October 2016 to June 2017. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies from Uppsala University and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Humanities from Simon Fraser University, complemented by an exchange semester at Lund University focusing on European History, Middle East Studies, and the Swedish Language.
