Carrera has already held a number of senior positions within the company in the region, most recently as president of the west Europe segment, whilst also acting as the company’s international ambassador for diversity and inclusion.

In these two roles, he completed a US$2billion, five-year investment cycle which improved speed of deliveries, added capacity and met the demands driven by increasing volumes of e-commerce, healthcare and cross-border trade, the statement notes.

Before joining UPS, Carrera was director of global accounts in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region for Menlo Worldwide, a global freight forwarder which was then acquired by UPS in 2005. He oversaw the successful integration of the sales teams of Menlo Worldwide and UPS Supply Chain Solutions division.
