Matthew Gries is currently the Vice President of Tax Research, Planning, Controversy, Credits, & Incentives at United Parcel Service (UPS), where they manage IRS audits, U.S. competent authority issues, and tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining UPS in 2017, Matthew worked as a Tax Associate and later a Partner at Eversheds Sutherland from 1996 to 2004, and briefly at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP in 2000. Matthew earned a J.D. summa cum laude from Duke University School of Law and a B.B.A. summa cum laude in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.
