Ben Whelan

Ben Whelan has had a varied career in the tech industry. In 2013, they completed a Regulatory Medical Writing Placement at Johnson & Johnson. In 2015, they took on the role of Xperience North Highland at North Highland UK. From 2016 to 2022, they were a Technical Specialist (Data Engineer) at Bluesmith Information Systems, where they designed, built, and supported bespoke applications and took on terabyte-scale data engineering and B.I. tasks. Currently, they are a Data Engineer on team Hydra at KrakenFlex (Octopus Energy Group). Ben's team is responsible for large scale data lake management, automated reporting infrastructure, ad hoc data science insights, and supporting data services provided to customers.

Ben Whelan attended St Gabriels RC High School from 2006 to 2010, where they attained their GCSE. From 2011 to 2013, they attended Holy Cross and achieved their A Levels. Ben then attended the University of Leeds from 2013 to 2016, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics.
