Jill Sergiso

Director of State Policy at Upstream USA

Jill Sergison, CNM, MA is the Director of State Policy for Upstream in North Carolina. She is a reproductive health and contraceptive research professional with 14 years of experience working as a Certified Nurse Midwife coupled with four years of experience in contraceptive product R&D and 20 years of contraceptive counseling experience. Her clinical experience includes full-scope practice in private, public and academic settings with an emphasis on family planning education and provision. Jill most recently held the position of Associate Scientist at FHI 360 where she was the lead safety coordinator for multiple international contraceptive clinical trials. She co-developed the “NORMAL” job aid designed to communicate bleeding expectations associated with the use contraceptive methods, which is being integrated into many domestic and international programs such as the PSI Choice manual, Ministries of Health across multiple countries in Africa, and bedsider.org. She has served as a technical advisor on contraceptive research and development programming throughout the world and was part of an FHI 360-led initiative to introduce 2.5M affordable contraceptive implants into sub-Saharan Africa.
