Nicole McKinney

Dr. Nicole McKinney is Upstream’s Chief of Staff. Nicole brings over two decades of experience and leadership in the healthcare industry as a licensed clinical mental health counselor and in numerous senior leadership roles within the non-profit and public managed care sector in South and North Carolina. As one of Charlotte, North Carolina’s recognized 50 most influential women, Nicole has excelled in building and sustaining community partnerships that promote life enrichment via social, behavioral and physical determinants of health across North Carolina. Nicole has also served on over a dozen North Carolina non-profit boards and advisory committees over the years, in a continued commitment to promote community vitality on both a grassroots and macro-systemic level. In partnership with NC Department of Health and Human Services, Nicole currently serves on the North Carolina Institute of Medicine’s Maternal Health Task Force charged with identifying evidence-based solutions to best improve maternal health outcomes and to guide and develop a Maternal Health Strategic Plan for the state.
