Urban Engineers
Gary Etter serves as a vice president and Urban’s New Jersey regional manager. He has more than 30 years of technical, project management, and executive leadership experience in consulting engineering.
Before joining Urban, Mr. Etter served as the chief operating officer of a 1,500-person engineering firm with 15 offices along the east coast. There, he was responsible for operations, strategic planning, project management and IT. Prior to becoming COO, he was the New Jersey branch manager with bottom-line responsibility for operations, project execution, client satisfaction, staffing, training, and strategic planning while leading the firm into becoming one of the preferred consultants of New Jersey transportation agencies. Earlier in his career, he served as highway department manager and was responsible for numerous multi-disciplined transportation projects for major state and county clients.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Mr. Etter earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and serves on the executive committee of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACEC New Jersey) and on the board of directors of the New Jersey Alliance for Action (NJAFA). He is an active member and supporter of many other industry organizations including New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Highway Engineers, and WTS.
