Joan Menzer

Joan Menzer has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and industries. Starting with their current role at the Urban Land Institute as the VP of Global Customer Service Operations, they are responsible for overseeing the organization's customer service operations on a global scale.

Prior to this, they worked at DelCor Technology Solutions as a Senior Consultant, specializing in Technology Management from 2019 to 2021. Joan provided expert consultation and guidance in implementing technology solutions for clients.

From 2011 to 2018, Joan held various roles at the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Joan served as the Director of Annual Giving Stewardship from 2016 to 2018, where they ensured strong relationships with donors and managed stewardship initiatives. Before that, they were the Director of Membership Development from 2011 to 2016, responsible for growing and maintaining membership levels.

Before joining the National Trust, Joan worked at the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges from 2001 to 2011. Joan served as the Director of Member Services, where they developed and implemented strategies for membership recruitment and retention. Joan was also responsible for fiscal responsibility of the association. Prior to that, they held the role of Director of Conferences, overseeing conference planning and logistics.

Joan's earlier experience includes working as a Conference Manager at Renaissance Grand Beach Resort from 1999 to 2001, where they managed all aspects of meetings and incentive programs. Joan also worked at The Mayflower Hotel (Autograph Collection) from 1995 to 1999, holding the roles of Convention Services Manager and Catering Assistant. In these positions, they managed meetings and events, handled client communication, and assisted in departmental operations.

Their professional journey began at the Institute of International Education as a Program Associate for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program from 1993 to 1995. Prior to that, they worked as an English Instructor at Notre Dame Seishin School from 1991 to 1993.

Joan Menzer holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in East Asian Studies from Dickinson College. In 2021, they obtained certifications in "Communicating about Culturally Sensitive Issues" and "Confronting Bias: Thriving Across Our Differences" from LinkedIn.
