Emma Thompson

Medical Scribe Intern at Urban Ministries of Wake County

Emma Thompson is a dedicated medical scribe intern at Urban Ministries of Wake County, providing support for AllScripts Electronic Medical Record systems since August 2015. Concurrently, Emma has been an undergraduate student researcher at Breen Genomics Lab since September 2014, collaborating with Rachael Thomas, PhD FSB CBiol, on the genomic analysis of canine osteosarcomas and engaging in various laboratory techniques. Previous research experience includes time at Gould Entomology Lab, where Emma investigated Bacillus thuringiensis resistance in moth populations, and a student research internship at Liao Tissue Engineering Laboratory, developing synthetic heart tissues. Emma earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Health, Medicine, and Human Values from North Carolina State University and also pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Anthropology and Cellular and Molecular Immunology at Københavns Universitet.
