Somayeh Taheri

Somayeh Taheri is the current CEO at UrbanChain. Somayeh has previous experience working as a BIM Coordinator at the Landscape Institute UK from May 2015 to January 2018. In this role, they were responsible for promoting the principles of BIM between students, LI members, and LI CPDs, as well as identifying gaps and requirements of using BIM in landscape. Somayeh has also worked as a Research Scientist at The University of Manchester from December 2014 to December 2018, where they looked at the impact of environmental policies on carbon emission and energy consumption of consumers. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Manchester from September 2012 to January 2014, where they helped with teaching administration, uploaded materials to the virtual learning network (Blackboard), and assembling uploaded reports and projects (TurnItIn). Somayeh also worked in urban design workshops in the Planning Practice module, and guided students on writing planning reports.

Somayeh Taheri studied architecture at Shiraz University before completing a masters in landscape architecture at the University of Tehran. Somayeh then moved to the UK to study for an MSc in sustainable urbanism at UCL. After working in the field for a few years, they decided to return to academia and completed a PhD in planning and data science at The University of Manchester.
