Sharon W.H. Ling has a wealth of work experience, beginning with a Parliamentary Researcher role for YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming (Member of Parliament for P102 Serdang) in 2012. Sharon W.H. then worked as a Research Assistant for Monash University Sunway Campus in the same year. In 2014, they were a Project Officer - Gender Policy & Advocacy for Penang Women's Development Corporation. In 2016, they were a Special Officer - Community Development for YB Yap Soo Huey (State Assemblywoman for N25 Pulau Tikus), conducting community surveys and analyzing and reporting survey findings on local issues. In 2018, they were a Graduate Assistant - Sidewalk Research Lab for Georgia Institute of Technology, recording sidewalk deficiencies in Downtown Atlanta. In 2019, they were a Transportation Intern for Connetics Transportation Group, conducting GIS mapping and data analysis via ArcGIS, Remix, and Excel for transit consulting projects. Sharon W.H. also worked as a Transportation Coordinator for The Coca-Cola Company, managing the employee commute options program at a 6,000-person corporate HQ, overseeing parking and bike/ped facilities, corporate shuttles, transit pass program, and rewards for reduced car use. Sharon W.H. also developed data-driven approaches together with Business Analytics and Tech Strategy teams to reduce manual labor, improve workflow efficiency, and fine-tune reporting. Currently, Sharon W.H. Ling is a Data Analyst for URBANMETRY.
Sharon W.H. Ling completed their B.A. in Ethnic Studies and Asian Studies (Minor) from Mount Holyoke College in 2012. Sharon W.H. then went on to pursue a Masters in City & Regional Planning and Civil Engineering (Transportation Systems Engineering) from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2021.
