John Burton

CEO at UrsaLeo

John Burton is the CEO of UrsaLeo, a position they have held since September 2011. Prior to that, they were the founder and president of Octera Solutions Inc., from September 2008 to September 2011. At Octera, Burton led marketing efforts and then served as president of the company when it spun off to add distribution capability to its legacy design services group. John raised funds, established franchises, and powered revenue growth that enabled the company to be acquired.

Before Octera, Burton was the marketing director at Memec Design from January 2000 to September 2005. And before that, they were the CEO and co-founder of UrsaLeo, a position they held from September 2006 to September 2008. At UrsaLeo, Burton forged relationships with semiconductor companies and generated venture capital investments. John also sold services to Cisco, HP, GE and others, and signed partnership contracts with Altera and Broadcom.

John Burton's educational career consists of a BS in EE from the University of Birmingham, and a degree in Business and Marketing from Stanford Business School.
